We are dedicated to ensuring that students make the right choice and to that end we have a comprehensive admissions process to guide you and your parents as you take the next steps on your educational career. From Year 7, students are offered advice on careers and future pathways. Preparations for Sixth Form entry begin in Year 10 when all students take part in our Year 10 Taster Day. Students have the opportunity to sample a wide range of A Level and Level 3 subjects. In January of Year 11 we hold our Open Evening and open our online application process. Below you will find a full overview of our admissions process. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact the school.
1. Year 10 Taster Day
All Year 10 students have the opportunity to attend a taster day where they have a choice of 4 A Level style lessons and an enrichment lesson. This day aims to provide students with an insight of life in the Sixth Form. This years Taster Day takes place on Wednesday 28th June, please click here for Taster Day letter.
2. Open Evening
All Year 11 students from WDS and other schools are invited to an open evening where students and parents can meet with staff and discuss subject objects. For external applicants we hold tours and talks to help you with your choices. This years open evening will take place on Thursday 11th January 2018. 3. Apply Online
We invite all prospective students to apply online before 28th February 2018, selecting 4 subjects and providing predicted grades for GCSE subjects. Click here to apply online.
4. Interview
In March of Year 11 we invite students to interview to discuss subject choices and suitability. This is an opportunity for students to impress upon us the reasons for applying to Sixth Form.
5. Conditional Offer
If successful in your application you will receive a conditional offer in May of Year 11. Please read this letter carefully. It will state that your offer is conditional, meaning that you must meet the entry requirements outlined in the Sixth Form Prospectus and have maintained good attendance in Year 11. 6. Year 11 to 12 Transition Day
In July of Year 11 you will be invited to our transition day which is designed to support you as you move from GCSE to A Level. Activities include a skills audit, university and higher education talks and team building exercises. This years Transition Day wil take place on Wednesday 4th July 2018.
7. GCSE Results Day
Sixth Form staff will be available on results day to offer advice and guidance. Ths years GCSE Results Day is Thursday 23rd August 2018. School will be open from 9am to 1pm for students to collect results.
8. September Start!
