JungHeinrich Visit March 2016

JungHeinrich Visit March 2016

This visit was opened up to all of our sixth form rather than being exclusive to our Career Ready students. It was really pleasing to see that some of our female students took up the opportunity to see how such a large International company operates internally.

The feedback from the trip was excellent. Mrs Deakin said the day was very well organised and our students were engaged in different activities such as riding in the fork lift trucks.  They were given free phone chargers and fed and watered very well.  Having spoken to the students they all really enjoyed it.

Here is a comment from the member of staff who accompanied the students

‘The Head of Training for the company, who travels the world, looked after us all day and was very enthusiastic about his role in the company and the ability of the students to do anything they put their mind to!

The day was well planned and very well structured. From the very first moment we arrived, to when we left (when we were all given a goody bag!) we were looked after to the highest degree and kept busy with different tasks, even being given a ride on a Fork lift truck. Lunch was provided and was enjoyed by all. We ended the day with a competition to find the fastest team to “pick an order.”

Thank you for the experience’

Here is a comment from one of the students who is not on the career ready programme:

‘On Wednesday 9th March I went on a group trip to Jungheinrich and it was an enthralling experience. t helped me in my understanding of logistics and what happens behind the scenes of ordering and delivering things that you have ordered over the internet. We got an insight into what it is that Jungheinrich do and what their company is about and also we got an insight on how fork lift trucks work. We also got to play a game at the end of the day and learn how the shopping is done and sorted out when you order online. All in all, it was an eye opening experience and I gained a very detailed insight into what it is that happens in logistic companies and behind the scenes of online shopping.’

One of our career ready students said:

' I really appreciate the fact that I got to go to the Jungheinrich trip, as it was educational and entertaining at the same time. One thing that stood out is the amount of effort put into the activities we had. This was one of the best organised trips I've gone to so far. '
