Governors
The Governing Body is made up of:
- Parents
- Teachers at the school
- Representatives from the community and the world of work
The Governing Body are appointed to help:
- decide upon the curriculum
- set standards of behaviour
- interview and select staff
- decide how the school budget is spent
School Governors:
- have legal duties, powers and responsibilities
- can only act together: they cannot act individually
Parent Governors:
- have a child in school
- are elected by parents of the school for a four year period
- bring the views of the parents to the Governing Body, but they speak and act as individuals, not as delegates of the parents.
- they have equal status in the work of the Governing Body and have voting rights
