    West Derby took a 2 nil lead in first half and looked very comfortable with 2 good finishes from George Doyle. We should have really been out of sight after missing several other good chances.   • Futsal - Year 9

    Congratulations to the year 9 football team. The boys entered the 'FA Futsal Youth Festival Under 14's tournament' on Saturday 18th May and were crowned Liverpool Champions.The boys went all the way through the group games and the finals, undefeated, which is fantastic as they have never played the adapted 5 -a-side FUTSAL game/rules.   • Liverpool Cup Finalists

    Congratulations to the Year 11 Team managed by Mr Thomas for reaching the final of the Liverpool/Merseyside Cups. The Merseyside Cup final against Sacred Heart is on Friday 17th May at 4.15pm at Walton Hall Park Sports Centre. Then we face Cardinal Heenan in the Liverpool Cup final which is to be held at the same venue on Wednesday 22nd May at 4.30pm. Please come along and support the team!

  • Spring Concert

    Another fine evening of performance was staged by the Music Department in March. It was tremendous to see how the skills of our students had developed from last year. Many of them were much more confident too and really seemed to enjoy sharing their talents. There were a number of solo performances alongside ensemble work as well as and a group collaboration.   • Sue Smith Visit

    It was a huge privilege for West Derby to have Sue Smith the Doncaster Belles and International female professional footballer with 93 caps visit our outstanding school. Through Sky Sports and the 'living for sport' programme Sue came into speak to our year 7 group. Sue is passionate about sport and when she was provided with the opportunity by Sky Sports she jumped at the chance to come and speak to our boys. Read More

  • BikeRight 2013

    23 boys from year 7 took part in a ‘bikeability’ level 3 training course on Wednesday 13th March. With an increasing number of pupils using a bike to cycle to school it was a great opportunity to get some practical training from Sean and his team out on the roads surrounding West Derby. Turning in/out of busy junctions, road awareness, traffic lights and multi-lane carriageways were a few of the topics covered. Read More

  • Philharmonic Trip

    West Derby Students experienced the power of live music from the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra as they took us through a cultural journey of many well known stories and tales such as Over the Hills and Far Away, the theme from Harry Potter and some well known fairy tales. The boys took part in responding to a question from Who wants to be a Millionaire? and singing along with the rest of the audience. Read More

iPad News

We are looking forward to going 1 to 1 on iPads across Key Stage 3 after half term - a fantastic opportunity to build on the iPad programme and fully embed the use of iPads across the curriculum!  I am personally looking forward to seeing full classes of pupils using iPads to be creative, carry out research, reading books, creating e-books, making movies, creating music & learning languages, engaging in scientific experiments.  Exciting times!
